On Sunday the 16th October I will be running my first ever half marathon (yes, really), the Manchester Half Marathon, to raise money for the Manchester Street Angels! The Street Angels are an incredible organisation that patrol the streets of Manchester on weekend evenings to help any vulnerable people from suffering harm. The charity was launched after the loss of one of my friends at sixth form, Adam Pickup, and hence is a cause very, very close to mine and my closest friends' hearts. We can't be sure how many lives they've helped or even saved but we're sure it is significant, and the streets of Manchester are definitely a lot safer with them there.
All of the volunteers that give their time to patrolling the streets do it completely free of charge out of good will to help get vulnerable people back home safely to their families, but any donations made go towards items essential for the running of the charity such as radio equipment, rental fees, first aid supplies and water.
Anything you can give would be so greatly appreciated; it's hard to understand how amazing the difference the Street Angels make is until you're unfortunate enough to experience the tragedies beforehand yourself. Fortunately however, the Street Angels are around now to prevent any harm to anyone on a night out in Manchester, and your donations keep up that incredible work!
Thank you, Hannah. X
