Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This August I will be mountain biking the route of the Malealea Monster in Lesotho (over 70km of arduous terrain) and would really appreciate your sponsorship. Having paid my own way to get to Lesotho ALL monies raised will go towards the raw materials needed to drill a borehole and establish rain water catchment systems for a rural community in Lesotho. The borehole will provide the community with a much needed year round water supply to help them to grow their own food. Since the majority of the population subsist on farming this project will have a huge impact on their daily lives.
As an Engineering student at the University of Exeter I will be volunteering my skills in a hands-on role, as well as gaining invaluable experience and learning what it takes to be an Engineer in a developing country (a future career prospect).
Lesotho is one of the poorest countries in the world and has a life expectancy of just 49 years and has the lowest 'healthy life expectancy' in the world of 42; facts which emphasise the harsh reality in which these people live. Therefore all donations will go a long way and be greatly appreciated. The charity I am working for is Africa's Gift and all your donations will be Gift Aided to make them go further.
