Story
Hi all,
I have never been one for long distance running (as you probably know!) so I thought I would challenge myself to raise money for the Jimmy Higham Bursary Fund.
The Jimmy Higham Bursary Fund is designed to help a student, who otherwise would not be able to do so, to join the lower sixth form at my old school, Wellington College.
The successful beneficiaries of this award need to mirror Jimmy’s attributes:
- to come from the North-West
- to be good at games
- to be strong academically
- to be immensely positive contributors to the College community
The College is raising on-going funds to endow a bursary to provide 50% of the fees for a boy or girl who epitomises the character and virtues that Jimmy came to stand for.
I was fortunate enough to be at Wellington at the time that Jimmy was a teacher there. I saw first hand, the incredibly positive impact that Jimmy had on all of those around him, whether this was on the rugby field or the classroom. I was so fortunate enough to attend The College and experience every aspect that is offered. I learnt lessons that will stand me in such good stead for life gong forward.
I have now made the north-west my second home at The University of Manchester and hope that I can raise enough money to help a worthy recipient of the bursary to attend Wellington College.
I hope my small personal challenge will open doors for someone from the north-west to realise their potential to give them the best foundation for adult life.
Many thanks for looking at my page and I would be so grateful if you could donate as much as you can, even if it's £1, it WILL make a difference!
Thanks, big love!
Right, I better get training! Hattie xx
