Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Moorfields Eye Charity supports the Moorfields Eye Hospital to help raise funds and awareness and offer support to those suffering with eye conditions all over the world. The hospital and charity support those suffering from conditions such as macular degeneration or Stargadts disease (a rare inherited form of macular degeneration which affects young people from an early age).
Those suffering with macular degeneration will generally find that they stuggle with or can't:
- drive/read street signs/read train/airport information boards
- read books/newspapers/magazines
- recognise people's faces
Imagine what your life would be like if you couldn't drive to work or read the paper on the train or recognise your family or friends...
This is a condition that affects my family and many others throughout the world and the research that the Moorfield's Eye Hospital is going into this and various other eye conditions will hopefully be able to help millions of peopl have a better quality of life - a life that many people take for granted!
I am therefore climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money and awareness for the Moorfields Eye Charity and Moorfields Eye Hospital to help fund the research and care they give to so many people. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro will take 8 days on the Lemosho Route - 6 days to climb up and 2 days to come down! It will require a lot of training and change of lifestyle (probably needed!) and ultimately sheer determination each day to ensure I make it to the summit... hopefully without getting altitude sickness! Keep your fingers crossed please!
Any donations/sponsorship you can give will be much appreciated. All donations go directly to the Moorfields Eye Charity through this website.
Thanks in advance for any contribution you can make.
