Story

Calling all H.com football fans! Another season of the greatest league in the world is upon us.

You are invited to enter a team into the Hotels.com private league to duke out your footballing knowledge wits against your colleagues.

Last year bragging rights went to Al McCulloch, who delivered a master-class in team selection. Please feel free to book some time in his diary to benefit from his expert tuition.

HOT TIPS

·         Get as many players from the big four teams as you can. Your budget is £100.0m, so you can’t just buy all the best players. This is Man City,  Arsenal, Chelsea, and I suppose Man United.

·         Newly promoted teams are generally speaking pretty poor. This is Cardiff, Crystal Palace and Hull City. Although Cardiff are likely to be the stronger of the three.

·         Goalkeepers – Joe Hart will almost definitely get the most points in this position as he is by far the best (but he is more expensive than the other options).

·         Defenders – Chelsea and Man City defenders are your safest bests, but Liverpool and Stoke can fairly sturdy teams (by sturdy read boring.. don’t concede many).

·         Midfielders – you should invest more in the Midfield than the defenders (per player) as they get more points and score more goals. Bale (Tottenham) was the top scoring midfielder last season, but is also hotly rumoured to be moving to Madrid (not an English team, for the geographically challenged of you).

·         Forwards – You need to get a healthy mix here. Usually one dead cert 20 goal a season player (this is basically Van Persie, Aguerro, Rooney, or maybe even Torres (if he’s back to his best)), a 10-15 goalscorer that will be in the mid-price range, and a cheap gamble (perhaps a newly promoted striker).

DEADLINE - All teams must be created by 11:30am on Saturday the 17 of August.

DONATIONS - For each entry, we ask for a donation of £5 to the Marylebone Project (part of Church Army), which is a local London women’s shelter and one of our nominated charity partners.
