In memory of Barrie Potter
We provide brain injury rehabilitation to survivors and their families

Story

We got involved with Headway, following an accident Barrie had at work which left him with a brain injury.  Headway became a bit of a lifeline for his family in the early days while my Barrie was still in hospital and helped them understand a lot of the effects that the brain injury was having and how it could change a person and therefore how they could deal with it.  Following my Barrie’s discharge from hospital, he became a ‘client’ at Headway where they offered him support, rehab, physio, occupational therapy and counselling.  They also continued to offer support to the family and especially his wife.  Unfortunately,  a few years after his accident Barrie passed away following an illness in hospital.  As a family we wanted to continue to show our support and gratitude for Headway and therefore every year we have a family fundraising event.  For the last 4 years that this event has taken part,  we have taken part on behalf of Headway in the Regatta for the Disabled.  We try to obtained sponsorship for the team taking part to fund the cost of the team and also raise money at the same time.  We also run the cake stall and this year Tombola at the event.  Last year we were fortunate to actually win the Regatta, which was very emotional.  This year we will be returning to defend out title.

Headway are currently trying to raise funds to enable them to convert the empty garage next to the Henley centre into a gym for easier rehabilitation and physio.

Any donation would be appreciated, if it only £1 as it all adds up.

The event will be taking place at Phyllis Court, Henley on Thames on the 30thAugust.  Come along for a fun day, we will be the ones in fancy dress.
