Hedgehog Awareness Week is an annual event that is organised by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society to raise awareness of the plight of the hedgehog.  This year it runs from 3rd - 9th May.

In the 1950's there were thought to be more that 30 million hedgehogs in the UK, now that number is likely to be less than 1 million. The UK's hedgehog population decline is comparable to the loss of the world's tigers!
