In August 2013 22 month Tayen Gilbert was diagnosed with an incurable genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis after a fit at home. Tayen suffers with numerous brain tumours and optic gliomas and is currently undergoing chemoterapy in order to try to stabilise them. Shortly after her diagnosis her mum, Kali, set up a facebook page called Tayen's Journey to keep family and friends informed of her progress. This page has grown from strength to strength with over 2000 people now following Tayen. A small team of family and friends now fundraise for The Neuro Foundation under the name of Tayen's Journey to help them continue their research into this serious genetic disorder and support sufferers like Tayen and their families.
