Story
In April 2010 I started to feel unwell. With 3 boys to look after I headed to the Dr's for some advice. I deteriorated quite quickly over the next couple of months and became unable to care for the boys like a 'normal' Mummy would do. Fortunately I had massive support from family and friends but life still proved very tough at times.
After just over 11 months of tests a decision was made that I should undergo a Nuclear PET Scan. Quite a scary experience but within days I was diagnosed with a very rare auto-immune disease, Takayasu Arteritis, affecting the main arteryfrom my heart.
I will probably have the disease for life but fortunately I have Professor Luqmani and his team caring for me. They are totally dedicated and extremely caring.
I am able to monitor my condition with medication but it will be a long and possibly bumpy road! However, now I am feeling a lot better I would like to give something back. If the money raised from this event can help to diagnose someone else then I will have achieved my aim.
Sadly we never know when we may need to use these hospitals.
I will be walking the Thames Towpath (14/09/2013) with some fantastic and supportive friends and am asking if you could help me / us to raise money for this fantastic cause.
