Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page in memory of the shining light of Chester le street that was Wendy Lowden. (Charlton)
On 6th June her children Helen Corner, Daniel Lowden and family members, Stephanie Bell, Cheryl Charlton, Craig Evans, Katie Robson, Terri Allon, Ian Corner and Wendy's 7 yr old granddaughter Jessica Corner will be taking part in the Colourama event organised by St Cuthberts hospice! This is a 5k run.
In September Daniel and Helen are also doing the Great North Run to continue the fund raising efforts.
For Wendy's family the hospice will always be a special place. Wendy was diagnosed with cancer in May 2014 aged only 50 and just 6 weeks after being diagnosed she sadly passed away. This was such a shock for the family and having a place like the hospice for Wendy to spend her final hours was so precious. Wendy was able to sit in the chair on oxygen in a private room with her family by her side and look at the lovely gardens When Wendy became weaker she was taken outside into the gardens in her bed to hear the birds and look up at the sky on a lovely summers day which made Wendy smile. A smile to treasure forever. Wendy's last 8 hours spent in the hospice meant she could pass away in beautiful surroundings and receive the best care. Since then the family have a stone for Wendy in the hospice memory garden a place for the family to come and remember Wendy.
Wendy's family believe everyone deserves the chance of hospice care and hope to raise money to keep the hospice going for many years to come!
