Story
Thanks the generosity of many Friends of the Makhad Trust, plus the hard work of the committee in putting on an excellent summer fete, we have reached our fundraising goal! Some of the money came through donations on this page and a lot more came from ticket sales, a raffle and donations. Thank you to everyone who has helped.
"Whilst in Sinai I came across 3 very urgent cases, mostly due to the recent floods. Although we can apply for and get funding for restoration of wells, repairs to flood damaged wells doesn’t come into these applications and the needs of some people are too urgent to wait for over 6 months for funders to be forthcoming. In particular an older man, stick thin, living in Wadi Gibal and struggling hard to repair his well. He had done a tremendous job with his initial 2,000LE but it was obviously not enough. He is such a hard working man and when not working in his garden works in the village trying to earn some money picking up rubbish. In addition his daughter had a stroke and has been deserted by her husband so he has to support her and her child as well as his wife (the rest of the family is grown up) He loves his garden so much and is such a hard worker that I felt I should help him some more and therefore would like to sponsor an additional 4,000LE. (not funded) I also want to fund 2,000LE to another old man in the desert struggling with damage to his water tank (who doesn't even have enough to eat), and 2,000LE to a widow in Tarfa who has stones in her well and her drinking water coming to her family and neighbours has dried up."
Please help the Makhad Trust to help these people by donating to this cause.
