Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. For the last 2 summers I have volunteered for a week on CHIVA's summer camp. The camp is for 13-17 year olds, from the UK and Ireland, who are living with HIV.
Summer camp 2011 was a fantastic success. It was great to see so many young people return from last year having grown in confidence, self esteem and acceptance of their HIV status. They were in a position to support those who were yet to experience the life changing effect of attending a camp where anxieties around discrimination, prejudice, stigma and adherence to medications were discussed openly. The sense of empowerment and peer support that these young people received could not have happened without camp.
On the weekend of 3rd-4th December a group of CHIVA volunteers and staff will be cycling the 1407km from Land's End to John O Groats (albeit in the comfort of a London gym), to raise money for CHIVA's Summer Camp 2012.
