I was fortunate enough to attend a talk which covered many topics but could be encapsulated by the word, “mercy”. During one of the breaks, an African Development Trust (ADT) volunteer delivered a very emotion evoking charity appeal. He had visited Kaxda, Somalia and shared with us some heart-breaking stories. They may be stories for us, but the suffering and pain that the Somalians are going through is a REALITY for them.
The presentation that I witnessed made me feel I had to help with ADT's remarkable cause. African Development Trust aims to help an area in Somalia known as Kaxada where the nearest hospital is 8km away. With our help, they plan to build a medical clinic in Kaxada - a vital part of any community; a place where diagnosis can take place, regular check-ups to ensure common diseases are cured and prevented.
The Somalians need medical facilities, which require money. The money raised on this page will be going towards an ambulance for the Kaxada medical centre. An ambulance will allow emergency cases to not only be attended to within a short period of time, but they also provide that vital time for life taking steps to be taken, whilst the patient is transported to the medical facility.
Even though I pledged more than I originally intended, I pray, with your help, we can achieve this target as soon as possible.
“It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in God and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets; and giveth wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor-due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are the pious.” (The Holy Qur’an, al-Baqarah 2:177)
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Ø "Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 589
Ø "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604
