Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you may know I was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia in my 20's. This means that I do not have a correctly formed socket of my hip joints and therefore they can dislocate. I have had to endure two horrific surgeries to my pelvis to try to make me a socket that will last and I was told that it was unlikely to work. So here I am 3 years after the 2nd surgery about to cycle 100 miles!!! It was a challenge I set myself (and my surgeon) when I was told it may only last another 6 months. At some point I need to have my right hip operated on too.
I am therefore hoping to raise money to be donated directly to the hip team at the Nuffield Orthopaedic centre as the care from the team has been outstanding and it is such a fantastic hospital. I want the money to continue to build research into changing the lives of those of us with DDH.
