In the U.K. almost 7,000 stray dogs are destroyed every year after completing their statutory 7 days in a Local Authority pound. Hope Rescue commits to take all the stray dogs from three Local Authority pounds in South Wales. No-one gets left behind irrespective of age, breed or medical condition.

Hope Rescue's vet annual costs currently total just under £60,000. All our adopted dogs are fully vaccinated, flea and worm treated, microchipped and neutered (if old enough). As we never know from one week, or even one day, to the next which dogs will come into the pounds we help we also don't know what other medical problems they may have. Common problems include skin conditions, dental issues, eye and ear problems and kennel cough. More costly medical issues include parvovirus, broken legs, tumours , liver and digestive problems such as irritable bowel disease. We also run an "Assisted Adoption" scheme which helps owners of certain dogs with the life time costs of vet care for long-term conditions such as heart problems. These dogs would otherwise be un-adoptable without financial support.
