We give help to burns survivors & families to help children suffering burns injuries

Story

CGP Grey, on the Hello Internet podcast, has discussed his desire for Starbucks to introduce hotstoppers (also known as splash sticks) across all outlets.

These plugging devices prevent hot drinks from spilling out of their protective lids. Starbucks uses them in some UK stores, but not all. Grey believes they should be universal.

Those wishing to support our "pressure campaign" can make a contribution here.

Obviously we are doing this with a sense of rabble-rousing, but at the same time we wish to support an important cause.

The Children's Burns Trust is a serious charity worthy of anyone's support.

One of its three main goals is "working with others to raise the awareness of burns and scalds, including prevention campaigns".

Its website also includes material about the perils of hot drinks, stating a hot drink still poses a scalding risk to children 15 minutes after being poured.

Half of all children's hospital burn admissions involve hot drinks, the trust's website says.

Please note the trust is not endorsing or involved in our "hotstopper" campaign - we just chose them as the beneficiary for any funds we raise.
