Traidcraft Exchange – Sustainable Livelihoods Appeal

In June 2013 the G8 leader will be coming to the UK. As part of Enough Food for Everyone, IF, Traidcraft is working with other leading charities and organisations in a campaign to help change the future for millions of people who live with the day-to-day struggle of hunger. The Sustainable Livelihoods for Poor Producers project in Northern Bangladesh is linked to this campaign. The project focusses on food security and giving poor farmers the skills and power to grow enough food for themselves and their communities. So far, 2,500 farmers have benefitted from this innovative approach. Some have increased their incomes by over 78%. As a result, their families can now afford to eat more regular and nutritious meals. Parents can afford to send their children to school. Traidcraft Exchange now hopes to extend this project to a further 9,000 farmers in the Mymensingh and Sherpur districts of northern Bangladesh.
