We support children living with cancer to help their family through their journey

Story

We are Gary Tweedie and Ian Boyd. Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, which we hope will help us raise loads of money for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC)..

The NICFC is a fantastic charity that plays a vital role in helping children and families living with cancer in Northern Ireland. The charity offers practical, emotional and financial support to children, teenagers and young adults with cancer in Northern Ireland, and their families.

Our link to the charity is as follows - Ian's cousin Ellen Vance and her husband Simon have a lovely ten year old son called Todd who has a brain tumour.  Gary and his Dad Jim are family friends of Ellen and Simon, Jim and Simon worked together in Shorts.  Todd has just had over 90 weeks of Chemo treatment and has done really well. The NICFC have provided the family with amazing support since Todd's diagnosis. Todd and mum Ellen appeared on the recent Children in Need programme and Ellen paid glowing tributes to the charity for the total support her family have received.

Having completed a wide ranging programme in 2012 including 6 half marathons and the Berlin Marathon, we have decided to continue in 2013 with the Rotterdam Marathon in April 2013 and the Belfat Marathon on May 2013.

As at 18/12/2012, we have managed to raise £3700.00 (including gift aid) so from us both a massive thank you to all who have helped in any way.  We would love to raise a whole lot more money for the NICFC - therefore have commited to a another tough training programme at the start of 2013 to allow us to 2 full marathons in a 3 week period.  We also plan to run some events to include a pub quiz and a night at the races so watch this space.  This charity, more than ever needs our support so any donation, whatever amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
