Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Since the doors of Kimbilio opened in April 2009 we have been supporting a number of former street children in Lubumbashi, D.R.Congo. In May 2010 we started to build on land on the outskirts of Lubumbashi for which we have a long term vision to create a 'children's village' providing support, education and care to vulnerable children who have been living on the streets. At the end of April we plan to officially open the first of the purpose built homes on this plot of land.
We have named it the Josue Manda House in memory of one of our loved and respected carers who tragically drowned in a swimming accident in December 2010.
We need your help to furnish the house. We are looking for financial support to enable us to purchase new mattresses for the children and carers, kitchen equipment including pans, plates etc and most of all we would like to provide the centre with a table football which will be a positive activity and provide much needed entertainment for the teenagers living at Kimbilio!
We would be really pleased if you would assist us to make the Josue Manda House a more comfortable place to live for children who have experienced lives of extreme poverty and rejection by family.
Any help that you are able to give will be most appreciated. We are also looking for partners who are able to assist us in regular giving via the Congo Children Trust so that we can increase our staff team.
We have been dependent so far on gifts and donations from friends and supporters to construct the buildings so far. We are looking for funders who would be able to assist us with construction costs of future buildings where we will be able to support more children and achieve our vision for Kimbilio.
With much thanks for all your support
Ian Harvey
