Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and to support my climb of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 metres) from 13th to 20th March to raise money for Clowns in the Sky, a charity which does so much for children with brain tumours.
Did you know that the toys on children's wards are locked away outside 'normal' working hours? Kids don't stop playing outside these hours. Clowns provides activity and sensory trolleys which give things for kids to do 24/7.
There are activity, and portable sensory trolleys in 37 oncology wards and shared care units from Newcastle in the North to the Isle of Wight in the South. These trolleys can be enjoyed at anytime and provide a range of craft activities and distractions. The trolleys take the playroom to the child when a child is too sick to make the short journey to the playroom or when the room is closed.
Did you know that parents/carers have to pay for their own food and subsistence while looking after their kids in hospital? This can add up to a lot of money if your kid has a chronic illness or a brain tumour. Also, the travel costs of taking your kid for frequent outpatient or inpatient visits can mount up to a horrendous cost. Not everyone can afford this cost. Clowns gives grants to those who need financial support so they can give their kids the care and support which every parent wants to give their sick child.
Clowns also funds children's entertainment sessions at some hospitals and would love to be able to expand this service.
Clowns also supports research into the cure of brain tumours in partnership with the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust.
I want to raise money for Clowns because it does such a fantastic job helping children with brain tumours and their families. Also, it is a small charity so your donations will mean so much more and will go so much further. Look at the website to find out more
