Story
Over the last 4 months I have spent hours running over hills, along the seafront, and around the streets, clocking up nearly 700 miles. This is all for what I believe is a good cause. I have suffered with Depression and know the impact this had on me and moreover the people around me.
In case you are wondering why and how I got into running and what has driven me to run the insane distance of 38 miles. My background is that 8½ years ago I lost my wife to a heart attack. This left me with the responsibility of looking after 4 children, youngest was 6 months at the time and eldest 10. My partner 7 years ago thought it would be a good idea if I started going out for a run just to get my own space. What she didn’t realise was what an obsession it would turn into. I ran my first 10k race that year, loved it and booked a Half Marathon for that same year. Well chuffed with that achievement so next up was a full Marathon which I did the following year. It didn’t stop there and I have now run 7 marathons in total and lots of 10ks and Half Marathons and two Triathlons. This year was a bit of a what next and that is where the Ultra Marathon came from. This one being 38 miles from Guildford to Shoreham.
