Simon loved sport and, in particular, he loved being in the lake district.  He enjoyed both walking and running on the fells.  During his last holiday there he took part in the Bassenthwaite triathlon before running up Skiddaw a few days later.

Whilst he never had to call on the services of the mountain recue team, they were always there should the need have arisen.
