Indira has been involved with local sight loss charity Vista for a long time. She said: ‘Vista is a charity close to my heart, I looked after my mother in law for many years who was severely visually impaired and then I became a Vista Befriending volunteer. As my mother in law lost her sight, she was not able to see her grandchildren which was hard for us all to witness. However, her strength and confidence was very contagious and it could be seen flowing through our whole family.

I'm now working as a Community Support Worker and I love the work we do and the difference we make to people’s lives.’

Indira is a mother and grandmother and she decided to do something amazing and do a Sponsored Skydive - jumping out of a plane from 13,000ft - to raise funds for Vista.
She said ‘Because I am 56 I needed to get my doctors agreement before I was accepted to do the dive, only when I’d got that did I begin to tell my friends and family. It’s a bit scary and actually I think I haven’t really let it sink in what I’ll be doing that day! 13000 feet is a long way up! I’m told it will be an unforgettable experience, the view will be wonderful and it will raise a lot of money to help people who are visually impaired in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. I’m grateful to my friends, family, colleagues and clients for their support in doing this.
