Story
Evelyn was many things to many people. Adoring wife, loving mother, doting Nana to five grandchildren and Granny to seven great-grandchildren, as well as the most loyal of sisters and friends. She touched countless people’s lives in her 97 years with her zest for life, straight-talking no-nonsense approach and warm humour. In her later years she endured many strokes. Each she battled with her typical stoicism and resolve.
It was at this stage that Dyscover - a charity providing long-term support and opportunities to people with aphasia (a speech condition that’s often associated with a stroke or head injury) - became part of her life. Not only was it somewhere where she could learn new communication and coping strategies that enriched her life, it was also a place where real friendships and bonds were made. In celebration of Evelyn’s life, we know it would make her very happy to have donations to this great organisation in lieu of flowers. Each and every contribution will help others, just as it helped EVelyn. Thank you so much x
