Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.Isabel is 4yrs old and has been diagnosed with late-infantile Batten Disease.5-6 children are diagnosed with this disease each year in the UK so its incredibly rare.Children are healthy with normal development for the first few years of life but their progress begins to slow at the end of the second year.  This manifests as speech and language difficulties and clumsiness.  Children then develop epilepsy, become unsteady on their feet and will eventually loose skills such as walking. As the disease progresses, speech and vision will decline and by the age of 6, most will become dependent on families and carers.Isabel was diagnosed in April 2014, since then she continues to be the loving sociable and happy little girl we all know.  However, the subtle signs of the disease continues to show more and more. Her positive nature and amazing sense of humour keep our spirits high.  She shows such determination and never complains about much at all.  She is a daily reminder that life is for living and that you have to live for the moment, each and every day...the here and now.Our aim from here on is to make the incredibly short life she has as happy and amazing as it can possibly be, because she is our amazing little girl who deserves nothing less.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
