Story
Did you know that since 2000, the rural hedgehog population in Britain declined by at least a half?
Over the past 6 months or so I have been working on a project investigating a new hedgehog virus and its potential health impacts as part of the Garden Wildlife Health project. Throughout its course I have come to learn more and more about the plight of the UK hedgehog, and it has left me keen to help spread awareness and further help our spiny pals.
The British Hedgehog Preservation Society was set up in 1982 with the core aims of helping and protecting hedgehogs in the UK. They do fantastic work - from offering advice on the care of sick or injured hedgehogs, through to raising public awareness and supporting studies that help improve our understanding of hedgehog population decline.
Please donate generously so that the BHPS can continue to spread the word and inspire people to help hedgehogs, and ultimately find ways to save this now endangered species.
As an extra challenge (and donation incentive), I am aiming to run this half-marathon in under 2 hours (considerably faster than a hedgehog's top speed)!
