Story
To mark the retirement of Prof. Brian Richardson, and to thank him for his exceptional collegiality, friendship and contributions to Italian studies, his colleagues in Italian are arranging for the digitization of a set of leaves from fifteenth-century printed texts from a range of European printers and the preparation of metadata on those leaves. The 55 leaves were collected together in the early twentieth century and are now in the University of Leeds Library’s Special Collections. The works represented are literary (including two early Venetian editions of Dante), historical and religious. They are currently largely unstudied; by carrying out this work we will make them accessible to students and scholars around the world. £700 would pay for the digitization of these prints and and for metadata to be prepared on the prints to assist scholars and students wishing to examine them. If we receive donations above this amount, we will digitize further Italian Renaissance material in the Brotherton Collection.
We'd like to keep this as a surprise for Brian, if at all possible, so discretion will be appreciated!
