We support Asian Elephants to ensure greater welfare and care

Story

Hi all,

On October 16th 2016, I will be facing my fear of heights and zip lining off the the Tyne Bridge alongside my husband David! We aim to raise awareness of the plight of the captive Asian elephant and also generate funds for a charity that is very close to our hearts, Mahouts Elephant Foundation.

Mahouts Elephant Foundation work closely with the Karen Hill Tribe in the beautiful village of Huay Pakoot, Thailand in bringing their elephants back from the tourist camps into the protected forest land surrounding the village. So far they have four beautiful, healthy elephants back in the forest living exactly how elephants should. They roam free, forage, throw mud/dust, play, bathe and drink from the streams. They are in elephant heaven!!

Money generated will support Mahouts Elephant Foundation in sustaining the elephants already in the forest, bringing more elephants back to the forest and enabling them to work closely with travel companies in choosing a more ethical approaches to elephant tourism.

We appreciate that people can not always make a donation and we believe that education is key in making positive changes. If you know of anyone traveling to Thailand please help them to make ethical choices if they choose to see an elephant. The best way to view an elephant is in it's natural environment :)

Thank you so much in advance!!! Jen and David xx
