We feel incredibly lucky to be starting a new life together, but we are also aware how that new life for some women and children can become a living nightmare through domestic violence and abuse.

Refuge do extraordinary work protecting those most vulnerable - they support over 3,000 women and children on any given day in a huge range of ways - and we would very much appreciate any amount you can give in support of this incredible charity - no amount is too small or too big!

Below is a list of possible donation amounts and what your money would go towards. Thank you again and see you at the wedding!

Possible donations -

£10 COULD PAY FOR AN EMERGENCY PARCEL

Women often arrive at a refuge in shock, after having fled a violent assault. Sometimes women need to escape in an emergency and arrive at our refuges with only the clothes they, and their children, are wearing.

Our emergency parcels can include toiletries, clothing, food, nappies or children’s clothes, emotional support and an initial assessment with our expert staff.

£25 COULD PAY FOR A CHILDREN’S PARCEL

Witnessing or experiencing domestic violence can be extremely traumatic for some children. Our child support staff help children to rebuild their lives. With their expertise children play and learn in a safe and supportive environment and can start to overcome the trauma of living with abuse.

Our children’s parcels includes arts and crafts, story-telling, singing and cooking sessions, help with homework for school age children, group and one to one sessions with the children, emotional support to strengthen the bond between mother and child.

£60 COULD PAY FOR A FAMILY TO ACCESS SAFETY IN ONE OF OUR REFUGES

Our refuges provide safe and confidential accommodation for women and children escaping domestic violence. Your donation could help us to welcome a woman and her children to a refuge, helping them to keep safe, free from violence and fear.

£500 COULD GIVE A WOMAN ACCESS TO SUPPORT FROM ONE OF OUR INDEPENDENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATES

Two women are killed every week by a current or former partner. Domestic violence is a life and death issue. Our independent domestic violence advocates work with women who are at highest risk of serious injury or homicide to keep them safe. They also act as a woman’s ‘eyes and ears’ supporting her through every step of the legal process helping to keep her safe whilst attending court and testifying
against her abuser.

£1,000 COULD HELP 16 FAMILIES ACCESS SAFETY IN ONE OF OUR REFUGES HELPING THEM TO KEEP SAFE, FREE FROM VIOLENCE AND FEAR.

Our refuges are places where women can be sure they are safe, and where they can access emotional and practical support from staff who understand what they have been through. Each woman and child is given individual, tailored support to help them rebuild their lives.
