Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For the next 6 months, I will be working with ex-street girls, with Operation Restoration. The project is doing an amazing work, giving hope, a future, and an education to girls who society has written off.
I am looking to raise some money to help buy basic recreational resources for the girls home where I will be working. The girls are creative, active girls, and I would really love to buy some basic exercise equipment, outdoor games, craft supplies and board games.
My hope is that these tools will really facilitate the healing process for these girls, giving them the opportunity to experience play and joy, to learn healthy interaction skills, and importantly, to keep their focus away from the ever-present allure of the street... Something that is never far from the girls's minds.
Any donation, no matter how small, would be really appreciated.
Below is a summary of the work of Operation Restoration and the work they do. It really is a fantastic ministry, changing lives, and challenging cultural attitudes towards street children.
Operation Restoration is a ministry of Youth With A Mission working with children and teenagers who live on the streets of Santa Cruz, Bolivia to give them a future. Established in 1991, we now work among the 5,000+ street children that live on the streets of this city. Santa Cruz is one of the fastest growing cities in Latin America, having grown from a population of less than 700,000 in 1991 to more than 2.1 million in 2012.
The focus of our work is to show God’s love in a practical way encouraging children and teenagers between 8 and 17 years of age, who live full-time on the streets, to leave streets, offering them the opportunity of coming into our Reception House, “El Toborochi”, before going on to one of our two Restoration Homes, “El Camino” for boys and “El Alfarero” for girls.
Once in one of our Restoration Homes they return to full-time education, are supported psychologically, socially and spiritually, with the aim of the youngsters coming to a personal knowledge of God and His purpose for their lives, achieving a high school education and preparation for adult life. They then move to our Reintegration Home where they are able to continue with further education, as they begin to gain their independence and establish themselves in the society that once rejected them.
