Story
Hello everyone!
In September 2012 my mum underwent a successful double lung transplant in the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. This operation cured her of emphysema & transformed her from being on oxygen 24/7 & dependent on a wheelchair to get out of the house, to being a vibrant, active, happy mum & Nana who grabs every day with both hands. I am grateful every day to my mum's donor & her family, for giving the gift of life to my mum in what must have been their darkest hour. If you aren't yet on the organ donor register I would urge you to sign up - but I digress!!!
For a long time now I have wanted to do something to demonstrate my appreciation and thanks for all that my mum's transplant has given us. In the months following my mum's op we were helped in many practical ways by the F.H.L.T.A. Indeed, they continue to help & support us now. Fundraising for them was the obvious choice...but what to do? A few years ago I ran my first ever 10k & it was hard...so I'm returning to Edinburgh on the 29th May & challenging myself to do my first ever half marathon!
Please sponsor me & support the F.H.L.T.A.
