WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!

On Sunday Jurys first peloton rolled out onto the ‘rolling’ hills of Scotland to complete their first ‘race’ – and we did it.

The weather was perfect ( for April) if a little cold  but we still managed to dress for summer – press control and click on my name above and it will take you to some of the pics we promised – click on the  ‘set’ when you get there to see them in order.

We all managed to complete our personal challenge - special mention goes to Scott and Jordan however who tackled and overcame the 100 miler – plenty of climbing and fast descending was the order of the day.

Having sheltered behind the rest of us for most of the day, conserving his energy, Darren eventually broke away and came over the line first on the 65 miler with Joe close on his wheels.  The rest of us came in a short time later – having taken a more leisurely approach.

Special mentions also to Joe who tried to ride most of the way side saddle ( see the pics) and Sean who did most of it no handed – neither style will catch on.  Oh, and not forgetting Sam – who now realises the difference between 65 km and 65 ml!!!!

Most important however is the part that you guys have played in all of this – we are set to raise well over £3k towards DePauls, our nominated charity.  So a massive thank you.  There still time to give, if you were holding back to see the results first.  Alternatively I would encourage you to support Suzanne Bowman and team who are tackling the Maracycle soon – you could also get the bug and join Suzanne’s team for the weekend.

Many thanks from Darren, Peter, Tam, Jordan, Marc, Scott, Sam, Joe, Sean and me.

On Sunday 15th April 2012 a team of us from Jurys Inn Group, along with some friends, will be undertaking a 65 mile cycle through the Scottish countryside as part of an event in conjunction with the Scottish Bike Show.

Sound easy ?- thats what I told everybody to get their commitment - then once registered I showed them the 'spikey' route profile - this is Scotland after all - check it out and join us is you wish - http://www.thescottishbikeshow.com/sportive.html

So if you want to support

Sean "Kelly" Twohig

Peter "The Climber" Stack

Darren "The Triathlete" Guy

Scott "The Likely Lad" Brown

Sam "The Sprinter" Shepherd

Joe "The Mighty" Quinn

Jord "the 3rd Schleck brother" McKerron

Marc "the big man" Smith

and me ( make up your own middle names).

We are doing the ride in support of Depaul Ireland, one of our chosen charities.

Find out more about the great work that Depaul's do in assisting homeless and disadvantaged people in Ireland at http://www.depaulireland.org/about-us/

So please give what you can - I'll even send my (laundered) cycling shirt, worn on the day,  to the highest bidder!!!!

Thanks
