Story
Al Ishara is an organisation which provides help and support for Deaf Muslim's.
We (the non-deaf) take life as an advantage and do not even think how hard it is not to be able to hear anything. Some may think it is simplae as they cannot hear but they can talk but you'd be wrong if you thought that due to the fact that we only learn how to talk by listening to others talking when we were babies, we learnt it word by word as we heard it then sentences. However, deaf people cannot hear therefore cannot grasp what has been said and they cannot talk either.
We (non deaf) have heard the azan as we were born which means we have heard the azan been recited from our loved one, now that we are older we can pick and chose which Imam should we listen to and which surat we should listen to. Deaf people did not hear the azan when they were born, never heard the azan even if they walked passed a mosque, cannot be picking which surat and / or which imam to listen to as they cannot hear.
I have attended the deaf charity dinner dated 01.02.14 and it was amazing to hear some feedbacks from deaf people as it was interpreted after their sign language.
The deaf people have very little resources in the Islamic world, they go through so much difficulties yet they are so content that Allah has made them deaf for a reason which is beyond their understanding, they do not complain why they're deaf but rather praise Allah and they are so content (even with their difficulties) they say they only need protection from Allah and it would be sufficient for them
Alhamdulillah I have learn so much about the deaf people in one evening which I never thought of at all which demonstrates I have taken hearing as an advantage.
Insha Allah, it is now our responsibility to provide for our brothers and sisters, NHS and other organisations are providing support in general but there is no one to teach the deaf people how to read the Quran.
Look no further, Al Ishara provides many facilities for them and here are some of the services that Al Ishara provides for the deaf:
- Islamic courses
- Quran classes
- Marriage services
- Job opportunities
- Generic advice
- Al Ishara has taken deaf people to Umrah 3 times
- Al Ishara are planning to make their dream come true and take our deaf brothers and sisters to Hajj very soon.
- The deaf brothers were so happy with the charity dinner along with all the other activities which Al Ishara provides for them, they volunteered to help set up activities.
- They cannot hear yet they do not complain
- we can hear yet we complain more than they do which worryingly demonstates how ungrateful we are at times.
Please provide your support, no one out there are providing for our deaf brithers and sisters, here is our chance to show them we are there for them Insha Allah.
