Story
Team Alpine will be taking on the challenge of climbing Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro to raise money and awareness for Ape Action Africa. We currently raise money for them through our coffee shop in Betws-y-Coed, North Wales but wanted to "go big" this year, especially as 2016 marks 20 years of the charity being started and 15 years since director Rachel Hogan's first visit to Mefou. We are privileged to have Rachel and her deputy Larry Taylor joining us on this expedition!
All the money raised will really make a difference to Ape Action Africa, they look after over 330 different primates including 20 gorillas and over 100 chimpanzees. As a small charity Ape Action Africa relies entirely on the generous support of its donors, please give as little or as much as you can as every penny counts in Cameroon.
Team Alpine is headed up by Jacha Potgieter, a conservation artist and photographer passionate about helping animals. He and his wife Gwyn run a palm oil free coffee shop in Betws-y-Coed, North Wales and have supported Ape Action Africa since Jacha first visited Mefou as a volunteer around 6 years ago. Joining Jacha and Gwyn will be cook and coffee shop manager Sue Jones and friend of the coffee shop and artist blacksmith Gerallt Evans.
