Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to participate in this years Velothon Wales bike ride in aid of Faceup Cymru. The route is a 140km long beginning in Cardiff and heading out towards Abergavenny via Usk before turning south and passing over Caerphilly mountain on the run in to the finish in Cardiff.
Faceup Cymru is a charity set up over 15 years ago by Mike Fardy a Consultant Maxillofacial/ Head and Neck surgeon at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. The charity focuses on supporting patients through the journey of managing and coming to terms with the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancer.
After successful surgery patients must come to terms with the after effects of surgery such as facial disfigurement, loss of speech and problems with swallowing. All of these can have traumatic effects on the patient. Therefore Faceup Cymru has 3 aims in supporting patients during the recovery process which are :-
1) Patients self-help, Confidence building and Coping with disfigurement.
2) Support services, Coping strategies, local support groups.
3) Advice services, Trips, Enabling learning opportunities.
All donations will go a long way in helping Faceup Cymru achieving its aims and helping support many patients on their road to recovery from head and neck cancer.
Thank you very much.
