Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May, our team consisting of James Alford, Leonie Holmes and Ian Holmes are taking on our biggest sporting challenge by running the London to Brighton ultra marathon on behalf of the CATS (Cure and Action for Tay-Sachs) Foundation. This entails running 100km (slightly over 62 miles!) in less than 24 hours.
The CATS Foundation’s main focus is supporting families affected by Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff whilst also raising awareness of the diseases. The charity provides a support network, respite trips and vital equipment so that a sufferers quality of life is as high as possible. The CATS Foundation also provides funding to the research team who are investigating a potential treatment for both Tay-Sachs and Sandhoff disease.
A word from our Captain, James Alford:
In March 2011, my 2 year old daughter Isabella was diagnosed with a life limiting disease called Tay - Sachs. After coming to terms with the diagnosis my wife Deborah and I decided we were going to give Isabella the best experiences she could have in her short life. With the support of The CATS Foundation we have been able to complete many of the items on our bucket list for her. The CATS Foundation are also providing funds to help towards the research in finding a cure for this terrible disease.
