Story
Last year, our Niece's Cousin, Ruby, was born with Down Syndrome. She is the most beautiful, loving and happy little girl, and we see her as family. It is Ruby's 1st Birthday on the day of the Half Marathon, so it seems only fitting to run it for Ruby, and to raise money for the DSGN. Over the course of her first year, her Mummy and Daddy have found the DSGN to be a fantastic support for them and Ruby. The Down Syndrome Support Group Northamptonshire (DSGN) charity was set up over 20 years ago, by a group of parents who all had children with Down Syndrome.
The group now has nearly 70 families as members. It is a support group for new and existing families, helping children/people with Down Syndrome to live full and rewarding lives.
They currently run Speech and Language groups, and Occupational Therapy sessions once a month, from school age to adulthood.
They also offer a weekly sing and sign group to their younger members (birth to school age), as well as Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy, and feeding advice on a monthly basis.
They organise outings throughout the year, a Summer BBQ and Christmas Party.
The majority of support they provide to their members is free, so they would be very grateful for any money donated.
Please donate whatever you can, big or small, it all makes a difference!! I've set a target of £200, but obviously want to raise as much as possible.
