Story
Friends,
I have been associated with African Prisons Project since July 2011. On my most recent visit to the team in Uganda in April 2015, I spoke with Bashir, APP's Regional Head for the still unstable North of the country bordering South Sudan.
Since starting work there in 2013, Bashir now has over 130 inmates and prison staff enrolled to improve themselves through APP's Adult Literacy Programme running in Gulu Prison and over 100 more studying at Primary and Secondary school levels; many prisoners do not have even a basic education.
BUT these students share old tattered books which is severely inhibiting their learning. They need 40 additional books to be able to use individual copies of books and materials.
I would love for us to help me help these students actively helping themselves.
The books we need range from just £3 to £11, ranging from copies of Nelson Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom to various educational texts.

If you feel you would like to help and "sponsor a book", I will procure and insert an "Ex-Libris" into each book of your choice, recognizing your own donation and allowing students to remember who helped them in this way.
Thank you,
James
