Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I volunteered to participate in this years Trek to raise funds for Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham. I intend for all monies raised to go to the Lymphoma department as they are currently treating my dad. Having already had a spell in intensive care I felt I needed to show some support for the great work they are doing. The trek will be 100 miles on foot over four days followed by a two day community project in Marrakech. Please if you can spare something, anything, as a contribution it will be received with much gratitude!
At first it was just a lump in his throat. My dad didn`t want a fuss, even when tests were done and the lump was removed. After a while I found out my dad had NHL. Again, my dad did not want a fuss made and little was said. However, come November 2014 my dad was to start chemotherapy. Christmas was rubbish. I had knee surgery, my mum was in a care home and my dad was very sick. After three months of treatment my sister received a call to say he was in a bad way. His lungs were failing due to the damage of chemotherapy. During the regular daily visits I saw for myself the great job they do at Portsmouth's QA Hospital. It was also during these visits I became aware of the Portsmouth Hospitals Charity. So I decided to do my bit to support these wonderful people. My knee was still weak from surgery, so the thought of a 100 mile desert trek was challenging. My dads treatment has been changed and his health is much better, although not yet free of the cancer. My mums health is poor, so I know what my next project will be. For now, however, I really would appreciate your support in raising money for the QA. It seems cliche to say you don`t expect it to happen to you but from conversations with friends and strangers it is clear most of us will at some time be effected.
