Photographs taken yesterday for the local newspaper, 4 days left at home till the off .. Slightly nervous now, thank you for all your support :)
I would like to give you some reasons why I am undertaking this challenge and really explain.
Corey is my nephew; he is 3 on the 31st May 2012. Since he was born he has been poorly, until he was 8 months old the doctors thought it was reflux and other such things. He was a small baby born at just under 6lb, but he wasn't growing at the rate he should and when my son Toby born in the October of 2009 he soon over took Corey in weight, Finally on a visit to the doctors, in January 2010, Corey was diagnosed with Pulmonary Atresia with a VSD of Mapca's, if that means anything to you. His first Open heart Surgery was in April 2010, just a month before he was 1. Corey continued to pick up and then go back down hill, with stays in hospital lasting weeks. In April 2011 Corey was rushed back to Bristol for emergency open heart surgery. In June 2011, less than 2 months after his last operation, Corey contracted a form of blood poisoning, and was once again rushed back to Bristol, where he had to undergo another emergency open heart surgery and also a stomach operation. The photo of Corey on this page is after this operation. In September 2011 Corey had to once again have open heart surgery and another stomach operation. This is where Craig and Jemma, (Corey's parents) where told that Corey's NG feeding tube would have to stay in now for the foreseeable future. Corey has undergone many other medical procedures, and not only spent time at Bristol Children’s hospital, but also Torbay. Corey has just come home from Bristol after a long stay; he now has lung and asthmatic problems and is connected to an oxygen tank 24/7. The smile and look in Corey’s eyes makes me realise just how lucky I am to breathe normally, he isn’t even 3 yet and his battle for life, amazes me beyond words. Corey’s battle is far from over, with regular NG feeding tube changes and heart scans taking place, this isn’t even the tip of the iceberg Corey faces in the future. Ward 32 at Bristol which is the cardiac ward, where Corey does all his rehabilitation, is the place I am raising the money for. After seeing first hand, the work the doctors and nurses do, how they all go above and beyond, I wish I could do more, and am hoping to raise as much as possible. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Thank you everybody for you donations, 4 weeks left, training is going well 75 to 100 km every ride at the moment. It's getting pretty boring on my own but it's also helping to train my mind for the long days when all I want to do is get of and have a proper cup of tea made by my favourite person.

I am cycling 1170 miles in the hope to raise as much as possible for Bristol Children's Hospital. My nephew Corey, has spent over half his life in hospital, the work they do there has saved his life & their continued care allows him to be the toddler he should be, please see my photos.

I fly into Geneva on the 13th June, from there I'm gonna attempt to cycle approx 1170 miles in 7 days. 4 of the French alp stages of the tour de France, before cycling to Santander to get the ferry home. I can't miss the ferry as I have a knee op shortly after I get home. Every penny helps to take my mind of the mountains. The trip is totally funded by myself so every pound raised goes direct to this great cause.
