A little background for you...Lively Minds is a small UK based charity, who set out to improve the quality of life & create new opportunities for local women and children in rural Uganda and Ghana.

They do this by implementing educational development programs for children in Ugandan villages. The programs educate children through fun play schemes and reading schemes, as well as educating on hygiene practices to prevent illness and child sacrifice prevention. 

Local mothers are trained to run the play schemes, providing them with the skill, confidence and greater independence to help drive their communities forward.

The lasting and ongoing effect, being enlivened, inquisitive minds and empowerment of local women and children. Making a powerful long-term impact on these communities, towards breaking the poverty cycle.

Why Lively Minds?? Lively Minds stood out for me when sussing out charities to volunteer with, firstly as they're small - every volunteer & donation makes a big difference. Secondly, the work they do aligns with my passion for women & children's rights & education. Thirdly, with well structured programs in place, I feel ensured my short-term volunteering will only have a positive impact on local communities, rather than a negative one like unfortunately some programs can have.

Volunteering...in Uganda during January, I will be helping to set up a new community play scheme in a rural village by teaching & supporting mothers with the program. As well as visiting existing schemes to help support. 

I know what these communities will teach me, will be a far greater lesson than what I could ever hope to offer in return.

Donating...this trip and volunteering is completely self-funded from myself. However, I would love to be able to generate additional support to ensure these programs can continue to be funded.
