Story
We're cycling to raise funds to help educate children (many of whom have been orphaned through AIDS and conflict) in Karamoja, a semi-arid region in the north east of Uganda.
Just £2 educates and feeds a child for one week.
The joy of education is, for so many of us, taken for granted but for the children of this region it is not so. Most of the population survives off the land. Many are nomadic moving their cattle to find pastures in the dry times. Several years back Jon and I cycled the Pyrenees and raised enough money for a school to be built through this fantastic charity, and every year since we’ve cycled in remote and challenging places with friends like Mark who is joining us again this year to help ensure the next year’s intake of children can benefit. Please help on this ongoing journey. Your donation will make a huge difference to the lives of some very deserving children like Hope, Patrice, Joshua & Samuel in the photo below who, thanks to your previous support, have benefitted tremendously. Previous letters from some of them expressed their immense gratitude to you for helping them so profoundly and asked that you continue helping for the sake of their younger friends and family members.
We’re just about to set off to the Picos mountains of northern
Spain where we will be cycling mostly off-road on mountain bikes from 4-19 June, arriving in Bilbao and departing from Aviles. This is a remote wild place and has more bears & wolves than anywhere else in western Europe. We expect to cycle around 500km and ascend around 13000m (about 1.5 x Mt Everest!), camping out or staying in mountain refuges most nights, and carrying all our gear on our bikes with no support vehicle.
We plan, organise and meet all costs ourselves, so rest assured
that all of your donation will go to help educate children in Uganda.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity (which is called MOSS) and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Please give whatever you can afford. Help to make a difference...............
Kind regards
Jamie, Jon & Mark
