Story
Well I finished the ride. We rode over over 300 miles over 4 days. The weather was pretty extreme topping 40 degrees on two of the days. The terrain was tougher than expected. but the ride into Paris was amazing.
I managed to lead the convoy with Ian past L'Arc de Triomphe and then downs the Champs Élysées which was amazing. Finally up to the Eiffel Tower to our cheering supporters.
Thank you to all of our supporter along this journey. The amount of donations is overwhelming, smashing our original target more than twice over.
The site will remain open until November this year so feel free to keep on donating.
Charlotte sadly left us on the morning of 6th June. The cancer finally was too much for her liver to deal with and she went peacefully whilst asleep. She put up the bravest and strongest of fights and never gave in but I think she'd finally had enough of the invasive procedures and toxic drugs too.
I love you so Charlotte much and will forever miss you but I will still be riding to Paris as it was all for you. I only hope that my efforts go some way to finding a way to stop this horrible disease. I'm sure you'll be with me for all 300 miles. xx
Update on 2nd June 2013
Another few months passes and the fundraising total goes up nicely. We've smashed all targets so far so I've had to up it to £5k now. No doubt at all that we'll hit that with all amazing generosity from our friends and family.
Charlotte was doing great but is now back in at Weston Park as her liver is under attack causing a lot of fluid build up in her abdomen. Clearly the oral chemo wasn't quite good enough so she'll shortly be starting IV chemo on a weekly basis. Pretty crappy to be honest but let's just hope it works!
Thanks to everyone that has donated so far, it really helps to boost us to know we have so much support.

New year and new challenges! Unfortunately Charlotte won't be doing this now due to things taking a bit of a dive with the cancer in her liver and having to contend with chemotherapy now. My friend Ian James will be taking her place. Ian enjoys marathons and iron man challenges so I think I'll need to step up my training! Thank-you for all the generous donations so far, just keep it going!

Bikes and lots of equipment bought and training started, however we're not sure if Charlotte will be fit for the ride given her latest op on her hip as well as possible further chemo/radiotherapy, however she's not given in yet. We also have the very generous Mr James on standby should we need a substitute. Thanks for the donations so far but we've got a very long way to go. Keep it going!
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Well I'm sure that you all know Charlotte's story by now and what we've been through over the last three years. I'm sure that most people visiting this page will also know all about what we've previously raised for Weston Park Cancer Charity which has been amazing and thanks to everyone that has donated and put in hard work to help us.
I think that we may have lost the plot slightly now as we decided that it might be fun to sign up to ride 300 miles from London to Paris over 4 days from 31st July 2013!
It is going to be a very tough challenge for both of us let alone Charlotte. About a year ago now we had no idea what the future held for Charlotte and our family and to some extent we're still pretty clueless. What we do know is that Charlotte feels stronger and generally better than she did a year ago and long may it continue! This is thanks to the many people involved in our lives and Charlotte's treatment including all our friends and family and in particular the amazing staff at Weston Park, Doncaster and Bassettlaw Hospitals.
It's going to take at least four months of training given that neither of us are keen road cyclists and have never cycled anything like any one of the single day distances of up to 80 miles, let alone doing this over four consecutive days!
We need to raise at least £1600 each, so £3200 in total which is going to be tough! Of that money at least 60% will go to Weston Park Cance Charity and anything above this will go 100% to them so please dig deep.
We must make this minimum target in order to be able to do the cycle ride!! We need to raise all of this by mid May at the latest.
We're doing this all via an organised trip with Discover Adventure who do all sorts of charity challenges all over the world. So we'll be doing this with around 50-80 other people!
