Story
I hope you have been able to read the information about the incredible work that Turning Point does and the very real help and support it is able to give to so many vulnerable people. We are extremely proud of the role Ted played in the growth and development of the charity and we know it was very close to his heart.
Turning Point is committed to keeping Ted 'at the heart of the organisation' and suggest that this fund should be available to any of their service users to apply for a specific award in order to take a key next step in life. A six monthly bidding round would be established, with appropriate on-going internal promotion, open to individual Turning Point service users across all of their client sectors, supported by a 'sponsoring' staff member.
We hope you are able to share with us in the growing of the Ted Unsworth Memorial Fund, and in this help us and him to continue to directly support individual people in creating turning points in their own lives. We think this is the most fitting tribute we can give him.
I would like to quote from Lord Victor Adebowale CBE, CEO, Turning Point
Ted wrapped those arms around Turning Point for some 20 years in its most pivotal leadership roles and for a further 12 years as a friend and supporter...
Providing new, young blood, he brought a dynamism that saw the future and excited others with a sense of possibility - the potential for a small, quite modest charity to become a national force to be reckoned with...
There's also, of course, approximately 130,000 of society's most vulnerable and disenfranchised people - yes, that's 130,000 - whose lives were touched for the better, for great good, by Ted's life and his work at Turning Point. That's a breathtaking achievement and my focus today...
A heartfelt thank you to Wyn and family for nominating Turning Point to receive your donations in tribute to Ted. And thank you Ted for turning around the lives of so many, many people.
