Hi all, 

I have decided to raise money to send toys to refugee kids fleeing war/Terrorism! One of the options is to fly a glider, i.e a plane without an engine.....I thought I'd tackle this one first before jumping outta one! 

So, many of you would have recently seen my Facebook post on the Airstrike in Syria killing around 24 innocent children! (If not please review my timeline). This of course isn't the first time a tragedy involving kids due to war has occurred but for some reason this time it really hit home to me as I also have a 4 year old daughter and she is my life! As a parent I would do anything to keep my daughter Safe and Happy and unfortunately for these refugees, this is their daily struggle. Children in the refugee camps have been Traumatized by war and arrive with nothing. Many aid agencies have funding remits which only extend to supplying food, water, medicines and tents. However not many provide toys or see it as a priority. Toys help bring some stability, normality and happiness back to the children and a refugee parent has feedback the brightness the toys have not only brought into their children's lives but also theirs. To see those smiles once again on their faces in spite of the daily hardship we encounter, he said, ‘It has affected them all deeply!’

Aviation Without Borders (AWB) is a registered charity which uses its aviation expertise, contacts and partnerships, to help children and their families at home and overseas - and they can reach some of the most remote places around the globe! They have just sent their third load of toys to children in refugee camps fleeing wars. The 1 Tonne payload contained roughly 4000 toys and only cost £1500, roughly £2.50/toy! 

I have funded the gliding experience myself (£225) and by the end of the day will have had to fulfill a checklist of operations and maneuvers to gain a Certificate of Completion.
