Story
On the 24th August 2015 our lives were changed forever. We lost a huge part of our family to suicide and the devastation it has left behind is unbearable. Things will
never be the same without Chan. The disbelief that she is no longer with us and
that we missed the signs is something that we have to live with every day,
which is why we would like to raise awareness of suicide.
Maytree is a charity funded sanctuary for people in suicidal crisis; the only place of its kind in the UK. When someone’s mind tells them that there is no escape from how they are feeling other than to end their life, Maytree tries to restore hope, giving a calm, safe place to stay, offering a chance to rest, reflect and be heard without judgement. It gives the opportunity to talk through their fears, thoughts and troubles.
Next week, on June 9th Chan would have been celebrating her birthday, giving us the perfect opportunity to mark the day in the most positive way we can. It costs the
charity £850 a day to stay at Maytree House. If we can help towards the cost of
one person’s respite in Chantelle’s memory it will be worthwhile.
