Story
Hi Everyone
The day is here! The London marathon is next Sunday. I have been on a very interesting journey since I signed up to the Action Aid team. Certainly my commitment to training has been on the front of my mind, knowing that the 42km was a heck of a long distance. I have struggled however in getting my training in with all of my travels. So, I am not quite where I want to be with my training but I am definitely going to give it a go! And your support would really help me on the day. I haven't sent this request previously as I have really been considering what 'doing a marathon' really means and whether I was worthy of your support. My reflections have concluded with the thinking that while I might not be worthy of your support, the work done by Action Aid certainly does. Their activities put women and girls at the centre of their focus across 45 countries, mainly in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Their work is about getting girls into school, helping women earn a living, ending violence against women and girls and supporting women affected by disasters.
I am grateful for whatever support you can provide as I face the 42km on the 24th. Knowing we, together, are raising money for the great work of Action Aid will carry me the distance to cross the finish line. In signing up for the marathon I committed to £2,000 but I am hoping together we smash this goal.
Thank you for your support, your good thoughts and for your friendship - I am now looking forward to the big day and appreciate you being part of my journey.
Jean
