This time I'm doing the Great North Run trying to raise money for the Oncology Dept at Hexham General Hospital.

This came about when a very dear friend of mine was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the end of last year. A young(for breast cancer sufferers anyway!),healthy,fit and in a generally low risk category making this diagnosis an even bigger shock.

   : 60 000 women or 1 every 10 minutes per year  are diagnosed with Breast Cancer

   : 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed at some point in their lives

   : With the best treatment 8 out of 10 can survive for over 5 years.

 With the help, support and care of the Oncology Dept at Hexham who with our additional support can offer the extra services to ease, guide and 'be there' for patients throughout this ordeal with friendly, supportive and practical help she is battling hard to get through this.

So I have dusted off the running shoes and squeezed into the training tops (they all seem to have shrunk since last year!) and again do battle on the open road to South Shields.

Therefore any support you can give would be fantastic because we probably all know of a 'Janey' and the world is a better place with them in it
