My Reason, by Martin Saunders

Jason Crump was told some years ago, something we all wish and hope we will never hear...

Time passed, but it soon became clear Jason had to make the ultimate choice, to either have the operation.... or, not....

Since the operation, and with the unbelievable help and support given by the Jersey Brain Tumour Charity over the last couple of years Jason has been able to navigate through his gradual recovery. Jason continues to get stronger by the day, he himself after struggling to walk or balance in the early months following his operation, recently completed the West of Island Walk... A true inspiration to us all.

Michael Veillard, my good friend and the brother-in-law of Jason, has been witness to Jason's sometimes very painful progress, and wanted to do something to say thank you to all that JBTC have done for Jason and others daily. Mike also wanted to do something for the future.

Mike wanted to do a marathon with a difference. He conceived the idea of a Golf match completing an absolute minimum of 26.2 miles walking distance. Mike had apparently touted this idea to a few friends in our circle, and has since told me, I was the only one that didn't run away... In fact I said "sure, I'm in... lets do it"

Since then the challenge has been rounded up to 6 full rounds (30ish miles)
back to back, the entire distance on foot. This will be completed in a stableford match format of 108 holes.

Mike and I will go head to head starting shortly after 04:00 am, and hopefully completed before dark some 18 hours later, 22:00 pm on the longest day of the year.

Mike sees the "Step by Step" nature of this endurance challenge as a metaphor for Jason's daily challenge of a much greater nature.

Please find it in your heart to give generously to our cause and the amazing Jersey Brain Tumour Charity.

There will be updates of progress, scores, pictures etc throughout the day.

You can keep up to date with all the latest by liking and following our facebook page. Feel free to send your messages of support. And please spread the word.
