Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So, on the 18th June I am planning to complete the 85 mile Parish Walk in less than 24 hours. I have waited until I am 21, because I didn’t want to settle with anything less than finishing it! I am incredibly determined and I really hope I have it in me as I am walking to raise money for Victim Support, for a family very close to my heart.
Victim Support is an invaluable charity on the Isle of Man. They provide practical help and emotional support to victims of crime, and were incredible in supporting the Haslett Family after their son and brother Jamie was tragically killed in 2010. They were there for the Haslett’s every step of the way; from when they just needed someone to lean on, to their practical advice and support when it came to the court case.
So a little bit about the Haslett's. They are an amazing, inspirational family very close to my heart. I've had the pleasure of being blessed with Steph as my best friend. They've dealt with grief and loss that I couldn't even imagine.
Firstly with the loss of Jamie on the 27th October 2010, and then the man of the house, Peter (Pedro), who sadly passed away on the 20th March 2015 after a short battle with cancer. The beautiful Angela is the mother of the troops and certainly the most kind-hearted women I have ever met, and I have to thank her for giving me Steph - she's done an amazing job of being a mum, what a lucky role model to have! Then you've got Darryl, the eldest sibling and the best dancer I have ever seen, he definitely gives me a run for my money in The Courthouse at the weekend! Then you've got Michael the cool kid who makes the best cocktails in town - he is currently living life to the fullest traveling all over the world, and I shall be following in his footsteps come September!
Then of course we've got my Steph. She is a one of a kind but I’m so lucky to have her, she lives life in the present soaking up every second - carefree and always blissfully happy! Perhaps sometimes a little too carefree with her punctuality, but we all have our flaws…
So to summarise the Haslett’s, they are the coolest most inspirational family ever, and how could you not want to help me raise money towards a charity that has supported them through their incredibly difficult times! Any donations big or small makes a difference and is really appreciated. Its also more motivation for me on the day to keep going till that last mile ! Thanks everyone.
